Feynman’s Messenger Lectures

Here’s another link to the lectures. This second link is to The Feynman Lectures on Physics website. This is a great source of information on the scientific method, how a scientist thinks, and just pure fun!

FUN TO IMAGINE with RICHARD FEYNMAN

Again, from the master himself. This hour-long interview conveys all the love Feynman had in doing and thinking about science.

MIT Calculus Revisited: Single Variable Calculus

If you need a way to learn the fundamentals of calculus, you’d have a hard time doing better than Professor Gross.

MIT Calculus Revisited: Multivariable Calculus

Similarly, you cannot do better than Professor Gross for multivariable Calculus.

MIT Calculus Revisited: Calculus of Complex Variables

No, I’m serious, you cannot do better than Professor Gross!

Real Analysis With Professor Francis Su

When you’re ready for your next step into advanced calculus Professor Su is a saving grace!

Books

Intro To Proofs by Jay Cummings

I love this book! I got my bachelor’s degree in physics, but after reading this book I went to graduate school for math! This book changed my life for the better.

Real Analysis A Long-Form Textbook by Jay Cummings

The master teacher does it again! This book makes real analysis fun and engaging! This is a textbook you can use to self-teach real analysis. When you read Professor Cummings you can feel his excitement come through. He gives motivation and intuition for everything from compact sets to derivatives.

A Book of Abstract Algebra (Second Edition) by Charles C. Pinter

A wonderful dive into group theory, ring theory, and some number theory. It’s organized in such a great way! Every chapter is short, clear, and motivated. Each chapter builds on the previous in a natural way. If that’s not enough, there are tons of problems to have fun with!

Probability: For the Enthusiastic Beginner by David Morin

Probability isn’t mandatory in most high schools and many people never learn the subject. So, when someone writes a book this good it’s a major advantage to those who read it. In this text Professor Morin guides you to a deep and intuitive understanding of probability. Something that is not east to do!

Introduction to Classical Mechanics by by David Morin

A great source to build intuition and problem-solving skills for physics.

The Green-Eyed Dragons and Other Mathematical Monsters by David Morin

Just a really fun book of tough math problems!

Hello,

Welcome to A Kick in the Discovery! If you’re curious where this phrase came from, that’s good! It came from the great physicist Richard Feynman. He was curious about anything and everything and he loved to explain science to others. I want to communicate the same enthusiasm about things that I find amazing! More than that, I want to practice teaching and explaining more and more complex ideas. Communication is very important and very challenging, and I hope this blog helps me learn this skill. With all this said, please bear with me while I practice my writing skills! It will be a process.
